Working together for a better world...
I would like to ask your attention for what Ida (my ex) has produced. I would not recommend such a 'product' in my spiritual friends circle, were it not that I happen to know the producer very well and moreover I know her philosophy and spirituality. Very special!
Basically Ida offers a special guided meditation/sound practice. In contradistinction however with methods that use sound or music to 'deepen' one's meditation or brings one in a mellow mood, in this practice people make certain sounds for themselves. The sounds that Ida suggests in the meditations are carefully chosen and resemble certain yoga practices like nada yoga (sound yoga). From her experience and practice in the field of psychosomatic/integral therapy she found a series of sounds that had a profound effect on the mood and the feeling of balance. She succeeded to combine this sounds: one's own sounds, with spiritual practices like mindfulness and meditation.
Furthermore she succeeded to produce an app on iPhone or iPad, (later for Android driven smartphones and pads as well.)
Using the app one can follow a program in sessions, 4 introductory sessions and a series of short sessions for daily use. Every session invites the user to a guided meditation and experiments with awareness, breath and sound.
Ida herself says about this practice: "In Soundness I have accumulated all my experience in a simple method, to bring the body and mind back in balance."
Does it work?
It's very effective I can assure you. I have seen several programs online, on cd or otherwise, but this one belongs to the more effective methods and following the sessions is a very pleasurable experience indeed.
I recommend it warmly to you all and Ida told me she would be very grateful for any feedback on Soundness. Her email address is on her website.
In my ning blog I've written somewhat more about Ida's philosophy and the connections with Nembutsu practice (the practice of vocalising the Buddha's name) in PureLand Buddhism. (http://amidatrust.ning.com/profiles/blogs/light-sound-and-movement-...).
