Working together for a better world...
In our final Inter Faith Week blog, looking at how different religions view the environment, Don de Silva provides a powerful perspective from the Buddhist faith:

For Buddhists, faith and sustainability are two sides of the same coin. A large portion of the 17,505 or so…Continue

There is panic buying throughout the world. Helen Dickinson, the chief executive of the British Retail Consortium, said at the daily Downing Street briefing that there was plenty of food in the supply chain. The issue is around people and lorries.

The summer is a time for being outdoors and enjoying the sun. When we spend time out of doors we feel ourselves relaxing, getting away from the stresses of ordinary working lives and timetabled agendas. Talk San Francisco Zen Centre: June 2016
Stories are important. The stories which we tell ourselves and the stories which we tell others shape our lives. Humans have told stories since time immemorial. Stories are the means by which we pass down culture and wisdom and spiritual truth. Stories also operate on a personal level: I tell you stories about myself and they have an effect on how you see me, how you then treat me and how I then feel about myself. I could tell you I am a…Continue

This summer I had a wonderful opportunity to talk about the things which I am passionate about at Buddhafield. In particular I wanted to talk about the way that the global environmental crisis cannot be separated from the personal and the psychological. The therapy world has to address the bigger picture or we simply collude with all the forces which are destroying our planet. In many ways this talk is a mission statement for what I believe we are doing at Tariki Trust. It holds together the…Continue

Is anybody following the recent outbreak of ethnic cleansing of the Muslim minority by Buddhists in Myanamar? This atrocity is happening in the name of Buddhism and the ringleaders are said to be Buddhist monks. This is an outrage in all respects, though it may just go to prove that in the end Buddhists are no better and are sometimes worse than everybody else. But if you believe in the dharma and feel that among its most liberating attributes are its call for non-violence and belief in…Continue
