Valeria commented on caroline brazier's event 'PLAYBACK THEATRE WORKSHOP & PERFORMANCE'
"My goodness! That sounds like so much fun! Does it have to be a story from your past? Can it be a story from your future -- a story you would like to come true? Because that would be pure magic. And how many stories can be acted out per…"

PLAYBACK THEATRE WORKSHOP & PERFORMANCE at The Buddhist House,

January 25, 2014 all day
PLAYBACK THEATRE WORKSHOPPlayback Theatre creates a ritual space where any story however ordinary or extraordinary can be told and immediately made into theatre. Someone tells a story or moment from their life, chooses actors to play the different roles, then watches as their story is immediately recreated and given artistic shape and coherence. It can be a performance, with a company of trained actors and a defined audience, or a group event in which participants become actors as well as…See More

"Hi! It took me a while to wrap my head around this. I had tried to read up on the other-centered approach, and it just didn't sink in. But now I think I'm getting it. It's about empathy. And compassion.  Letting go of yourself…"

"Yes this is how it can be, if one is open enough to experience the immediacy of the moment. Seeing and drawing into the moment, this very other, that exists for us, but which shrouded in self perception, is clouded from view. How can we open to…"

"The model of therapy which we teach, other-centred approach, takes as its core a triangular model of therapeutic relationship. This model is concerned with the therapist getting alongside the client and exploring how the client sees the world.…"

Nature and healing the psyche: Psychiatric Times article on Farming and Doctoring

Thought the members might be interested in this article, particularly with the current discussion on Wales:http://www.psychiatrictimes.com/depression/farming-and-doctoringExcerpt:We psychiatrists talk about “seeing” patients, but the seeing involves primarily an inward gaze—at least in psychotherapy—along the parameters of listening, empathy, and association. That may be one reason why, after many years seeing…See More

Profile Information

Introduce yourself
I specialize in personal and spiritual development, and teach my kids the tools of mental discipline and Mindfulness. I'm looking to learn more formally and to develop the qualifications to reach a wider audience.
How did you hear about Tariki?
Searched for Buddhist psychology.
What is your involvement in Tariki?
Would like to study Buddhist psychology formally.
Are you a student or have you studied with us?
Not yet a student, however, I would like to begin study with you this coming fall.
What can you offer?
I'm not sure how to answer that question. It's terribly vague. I suppose I could answer by saying I can offer compassion, support, encouragement to people I interact with. I feel it's my mission in life to bring as much light as possible wherever I go...but I'm sure everyone in this group does the same.
Are there things you would like to see Tariki doing or want to know more about?
I may know more after I've experienced Tariki.

I would like to develop my understanding of Buddhist psychology and meet other people who do.

Grounded in Faith: Psychotherapy and Pureland

Since the time of the Buddha people have looked to Buddhism as a source of salvation from their unhappiness and confusion. In the modern age, psychotherapy has become a route which many people choose to help them face and move beyond their personal suffering. Not surprisingly many Western therapists tend to gravitate towards Buddhist ideas and, conversely, Buddhists are often interested in exploring how their faith…
