February 15-16 Working with drawing and imagery in the therapy room: Liz & Caroline
A skills weekend focusing on the use of drawing and image creation in the therapy room. We will use a variety of methods and experiment with different ways of putting psychological material on paper including expressive art, drawing on memories, symbolic representation and diagrammatic recording.
February 17-20 Echo and Narcissus: The exploration of a myth: Jeff & Caroline
The myth of Echo and Narcissus inspired Freud and others in the early creation of psychological theory. This story provides us with a deep insight into some common problems of human relating and into some of the underlying dramas of psychopathology. In this group we will explore the myth creatively using various arts methods (image making, drama, words for example) and will look at what personal themes are triggered by it.
February 21 Gender Identity: Elise & Caroline
What does it mean to identify as male or female or to identify as neither or both? This day seminar will explore different aspects of gender and how they manifest in the therapy room.
February 22-23 The Angry Self: Elise & Caroline
This skills weekend will explore working with anger. Whilst some therapists are very focused on helping their clients to express their suppressed anger, for others, anger is a difficult emotion to express or explore in the therapy room. We will explore the relationship between anger, rage and violence and our responses to them. In particular we will look at the relationship between containing and expressive methods in this work.
