Buddhist Therapists Forum is a gathering of people with an interest in therapy and Buddhism. We usually host a speaker/facilitator who has an interesting perspective or methodology to share. Our programme is wide-ranging and draws on different spiritual and philosophical traditions as well as Buddhism, and on a broad range of therapeutic and psychological topics.
The format of forums will vary depending on the speaker/facilitator. Most will involve discussion and some may involve personal sharing or workshop style exercises. We ask participants to take responsibility for managing personal and professional boundaries.
Forums are open to anyone with an interest in a particular topic, but most of those who attend are practising therapists, students on counselling programmes or others who work in the mental health field. We attract local counsellors and therapists as well as people who have trained with us in the past and current students. Although forums are generally professionally orientated, they are open to anyone and sometimes attract people with no formal training in the subject. If you are unsure about attending, do ask us.
Tariki students can count forums towards their peer learning requirement and we provide letters confirming attendance for CPD purposes.
